Dear Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my classroom! My name is Elizabeth Pitt (formerly Ms. Adams). I thoroughly enjoy working with children and I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child. I believe in structure and high expectations as I work to my fullest potential to help your child succeed. A challenging fifth grade curriculum and a variety of learning experiences wait as we enter this school year.
There are a few essential items that you will need to be aware of:
- Please send in supplies ASAP.
- Each student will have a yellow homework folder with a homework newsletter given to them EVERY Monday listing everything you need to know for the week.
- A green folder will contain graded papers, make up work, and periodic progress sheets and it will be sent home once each week. Please sign this folder each week, remove and discuss the papers with your child and return it empty the next day.
- In addition, there will be an agenda in which each child will record important information in each day and the fifth grade team will communicate with you in this agenda. I will initial it and write a comment in it each day. Please sign this agenda each night after reading it.
- Students will have a consequence for missing homework, missing make up work, not following expectations, or for an unsigned agenda. Students will be rewarded for following expectations as well! In addition, I am sending home my SUPER STAR BEHAVIOR expectations and the “card system”. I appreciate your cooperation and support.
- Your students will have the benefit of working with other teachers as well. Mrs. Macaluso will teach your child Social Studies and Science and Mrs. Cook will teach your child Math. We, as a team, feel that this departmentalizing will only make us more effective teachers, as we are able to concentrate on fewer subjects each day.
- We will be able to communicate well with you through the agendas and conferences. In addition, you may reach me at 485-8295 or by email at [email protected]
I hope to meet each of you personally at Open House if not sooner. Parent communication is a must in order to ensure your child’s success. Thank you for trusting Luhr Elementary with your child’s education. Together we will learn a lot and have fun along the way!
