What will we be doing in social studies this year?
Our 5th grade Social Studies program will promote citizenship and develop student understanding of our United States’ history. Our studies will include our nation’s geography, economy, government, culture, and social systems. We will focus on the many diverse individuals and groups who have shaped the United States. Significant historical documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution will be studied. Student understanding will be measured daily, using formative and summative assessments. We will cover a tremendous amount of information this year. We will cover the history of the United States from the pre-Native time period until now. PLEASE help your child succeed; review vocabulary nightly with him or her, use the suggested websites to help encourage interest and promote good study skills.
Classroom polices and procedures
Watch for upcoming "classroom constitution" created by students and teacher at the beginning of the school year.
